Getting Started
New clients begin with a series of private sessions. This initial group of sessions is important in setting the basic foundation for Pilates work. Clients learn each exercise with proper form and alignment, as well as any modifications that might be appropriate. Through careful one-on-one teaching, clients learn the order of the exercises, the principles of Pilates, equipment set-up, and the system of exercises that is right for their body and their personal fitness goals.

How do you know
if you're ready
for semi-privates?

Clients can add or transition to semi-private sessions when:

  • They have a basic understanding of the names of the exercises and the order in which they are performed.

  • They know how to set up their equipment.
  • They have an understanding of the 6 principles of Pilates and a beginning awareness of how to apply them.
  • They can work more independently.

Private Sessions

Private sessions are composed of both apparatus and matwork and allow the instructor to develop a customized system of exercises to address each client's needs, goals, and previous injuries. More advanced clients benefit from one-on-one instruction to improve precision, add new exercises to their workout program, work on a specific issue, or work on rehabilitation from injury. Private sessions are 55 minutes.

Semi-Private Sessions

Once clients know the order of the exercises and can perform them correctly, they can move to semi-private sessions. This usually takes 15 private sessions. In a semi-private session, two or three clients are matched to ability and work together with one instructor. These sessions are lively and motivating and when done 2-3 times each week, really deliver visible and lasting results. Many clients take a mix of semi-private and private sessions. In this way they can continue their focused personal training with the energy and cost benefits of semi-privates. Semi-private sessions are 55 minutes.
